Bobike Save the Bees

Bobike’s Mission to Help Save the Bees

At Bobike, we believe every ride can make a difference — not just for families, but for the planet.  In 2025, we partnered with Wildbiene + Partner to bring the “Save the Bees” project to a close, alongside the Bobike One yellow mustard seat.

Why Bees Are Worth Fighting For

Bees are more than charming little creatures buzzing in the garden. They are essential for life on Earth. By pollinating plants, they help grow the fruits, vegetables, and flowers that fill our homes and sustain ecosystems. Yet today, more than half of Germany’s wild bee species are endangered due to pesticides, intensive agriculture, and shrinking habitats. Without action, we risk losing these vital pollinators — and the balance of nature itself.

How Bobike Turned a Seat into a Cause

When we designed the yellow mustard Bobike One, the colour reminded us of bees. That inspired us to connect the launch to a meaningful initiative, supporting the “Save the Bees” project.

From the very start in 2023 until 2025, for every yellow Bobike One sold, we donated a fee to support wild bee protection. Beyond donations, Bobike funded 600 m² of wild bee habitats in southern Germany, joining the Beegnette initiative.

In 2024 alone, the initiative by Wildbiene + Partner has already created 14,000 m² of thriving meadows — and, in 2025 Bobike is proud to be part of this effort, with 600 m². These spaces are carefully designed to give bees everything they need:

  • Flower-rich meadows with over 100 native plant species
  • Nesting structures for cavity-nesting bees
  • Sand patches for ground-nesting species
  • Deadwood and herb edges, providing extra shelter

Real Results That Make a Difference

Thanks to this project, over 540 bee nests are now thriving, hosting species like red mason bees, horned mason bees, scissor bees, and wool carder bees. Over 60 flowering plant species have taken root, creating lasting sanctuaries. With careful monitoring by expert biologists, each habitat contributes to a network of safe corridors, helping wild bees migrate, settle, and survive year after year.

How You Can Join the Cause from Home

  • Plant native wildflowers in gardens or on balconies
  • Provide nesting spaces, like BeeHomes
  • Create small natural habitats with sand, deadwood, or untidy hedges
  • Avoid pesticides to let nature thrive
  • The Project Comes to a Close, but Bobike Legacy Lives On
